Irvine High School has a diverse student population with over 20 native languages spoken. 42% of the graduating class go directly to a 4-year post-secondary school, while 44% attend a community college. The remaining students go to a trade/technical school, join the military or enter the workforce.

Ranking

Within IUSD we do not rank our students. The difference between the student who ranked 10th and the one who ranked 20th is often less than 00.10 grade point and can be very misleading.

The Athletic Program has a tradition of excellence. We offer comprehensive programs in football, cross country, volleyball, water polo, tennis, basketball, soccer, wrestling, golf, track, swimming, lacrosse, baseball, softball and Competitive Cheer, winning titles in Pacific Coast League, Southern  Section CIF, and State competitions.

Instrumental Music Program

The Instrumental Music Program has been designated as a Grammy “Signature Gold” School by the Grammy Foundation, honoring Irvine High as one of the top 10 music programs in the nation. The program enrolls over 500 musicians in Marching Band (200 members), Jazz Ensemble 1 and 2, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Concert Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Studio Music, Piano and Guitar.


Vocal Music Program

Vocal Music Program enrolls over 200 students in Chorale, Canta Bella, Concert Chorale, Irvine Singers and Viva Cantar. The vocal music program holds 3–4 concerts per year featuring all choral leveled courses.


Theater Arts Program

The Theater Arts Program enrolls 200 students. Drama performs a Fall Play, a Winter Musical and a Spring Play. In addition, we have a comprehensive Technical Theater program.


Dance Program

The Dance Program enrolls over 200 dancers in four levels of Dance Tech, plus Dance Ensemble and Hip Hop. The dance program holds 3–4 concerts per year featuring all dance levels and solos.


Visual Arts Program

The Visual Arts Program includes course beginning & advanced offerings in Intro to Art, Painting and Drawing, Ceramics, Video Production, Computer Graphics, Visual Imagery, Animation, Fashion Design and four (4) AP Art and Art History courses. All of these courses meet the University of California A-G requirements and many are also CTE courses.

The Career Technical Education (CTE) Program includes beginning, intermediate and advanced course offerings in Computer Science, Website Design, Engineering and Automotive.

In Activities, leadership credits are awarded to Associated Student Body (ASB) officers and Student Forum.
