Credit Requirements

  • Minimum Graduation Requirements: No Fine Arts Credits are required, but all students need 70 elective credits to graduate. Any of these classes qualify.
  • College / University Requirements: 10 Fine Arts Credits

Courses

  • Recommended: A passing grade for one semester of Intro to Art, Painting/Drawing, and/or Computer Graphics. Students need to have basic computer skills.

This is a UC Approved Fine Arts Course and meets Visual and Performing Arts graduation requirement. The curriculum is aligned to the CA CTE Model Curriculum Standards and Career Ready Standards for the Arts, Media and Entertainment Industry Sector – Digital Visual Media or Production Management and Design, Visual, Media Arts career pathway.

This course requires the use of Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects. Students must be comfortable working with complex computer software. Designed to expose students to a range of traditional and digital techniques used in stop-motion and 2D computer animation. Students will develop skills in drawing, writing, storyboarding, layout, and character design by creating individual and collaborative animations. This year-long course must be taken in sequence (fall then spring).

This course is an in-depth extension of Animation with the intent to further develop the foundation of creating and understanding time-based art. Students will be working to improve skills/techniques and develop creative expression.
