Culinary Arts

The following one-year ROP course meets the UC/CSU Preparatory Elective “G” requirement.

Prepare for an entry-level position in the restaurant/food service industry.  Learn safety and sanitation, nutrition basics, and food service operations.  Instruction includes planning, preparation, cooking and presentation techniques for a wide variety of food.


Baking & Pastry Fundamentals

  • Credits: 5

  • Approved for UC/CSU

The following semester ROP course meets the UC/CSU Preparatory Elective “G” requirement.

Learn the principles and techniques needed to work successfully in the baking industry.  Using industry quality equipment and standards: bake breads, pastries, cakes and mousses; and learn plate presentations.


Advanced Culinary Arts

  • Credits: 10

  • Approved for UC/CSU

The following one-year ROP course meets the UC/CSU Preparatory Elective “G” requirement.

Expand culinary skills to master the art of preparing worldwide cuisine.  Participate in menu competitions creating and presenting a variety of courses.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Culinary Arts Internship, Baking and Pastry or prior kitchen experience.
