Dental Assistant Back Office (Fall only)

The following semester-year ROP course meets the UC/CSU Preparatory Elective “G” requirement.
This class prepares students for an entry-level position in a dental office. Students will learn how to prepare the patient, sterilize and disinfect, setup instrument trays, and prepare materials that will be needed by the dentist during the examination. Students who desire to advance to Dental Assistant Back Office Internship will be required to earn a grade of 85% or higher upon completion of this course.
Prerequisite: Must be a high school senior.
Dental Assistant Back Office Internship (Spring only)

The following one-semester ROP course meets the UC/CSU Preparatory Elective “G” requirement.
This course provides advanced training in dental assisting. Students will prepare patients, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and assist the dentist through participation in an internship. Additionally, students will practice theory and clinical applications in dental radiography in compliance with the guidelines set forth by the California Board of Dental Examiners. Radiology certificate is issued upon successful completion of the course. Students completing this program will be qualified to be employed in the dental field or may enroll in higher education for advanced training.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Dental Back Office fall course with 85% or higher. Must be a high school senior.
Dental Assistant Front Office

The following one-semester ROP course meets the UC/CSU Preparatory Elective “G” requirement.
Learn basic procedures used in the dental front office. Practice using various forms and procedures; and the oral and written communication skills necessary for employment.
