Girls Ten Serve

Thank you for your interest in the 2018 Irvine High School Girls Tennis team.  The tennis season promises to be a very competitive and exciting one.  The following information will help guide you towards making sure you are prepared for the upcoming tryouts and season.

  1. Before Summer Camp, Tryouts and Season,
  • Register and Complete online Athletic Clearance forms. Refer to the athletic clearance process page.
  • Download the Pre-Participation Exam Form (physical). Complete form at your Health Care Provider, then add form to your online clearance account .  Physicals are good for 12 months.
  1. Tryouts are scheduled to begin on Monday, August 13th through Friday, August 17th.  New players will have their schedule changed after successfully making the team.  I anticipate a very competitive tryout this year.  Skill is not necessarily the most important factor in determining the results of the tryouts.  The players that make the team will be decided by several factors including skill, experience, potential, attitude and work ethic.  The total team size (varsity and jv) is usually between 26-30 players.  Varsity and jv squads will not be determined until after tryouts.  Returning players are not guaranteed their spots.
  1. Team practice starts on Monday, August 13th, and runs through the end of the 1st quarter (end of October).  All players, except seniors and winter sports athletes, must be signed up for the 2nd quarter off-season tennis.  Matches begin in early September.
  • An average practice runs from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
  • Matches start at 3:00 pm and end at approximately 5:30-6:00pm.
  • Matches are played mainly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Pre-league matches can ary.
  • There are between 17 and 20 matches per season, plus PCL league finals and CIF playoffs (proided we finish in the top three in the PCL league).
  1. Requested Team Contributions
  • Team contribution is approximately $150 (depends on player uniform options)
  • $125 athletic contribution per family per year (multi-sport athletes and siblings only make 1 athletic contribution)

If you or your parents have any questions, please feel free to contact me (email is best).
